Travertine stamping requires precision templates, consistent imprint pressure, and often a multiple-layer sealing system to maintain color depth and slip resistance around pool water.
Structural Reinforcement: Getting Rebar Right
A pool deck or motor court sees concentrated loads—vehicles, furniture, seasonal equipment storage. The concrete must be adequately reinforced, but reinforcement placement is critical. Rebar must sit in the lower third of the slab to resist tension stresses from loads bearing down on top. If rebar lies on the ground during the pour, it does nothing; concrete simply flows around it. We use rebar chairs or dobies to position rebar 2 inches up from the subbase so it remains in the tension zone. Wire mesh, similarly, must stay mid-slab—if it's pulled up during screeding or floating, it becomes structural dead weight.
